The Communications Department promotes himaya and raises awareness on the cause of child abuse while encouraging the public to “break the silence” and have the courage to speak up about their experiences. It does so by taking part in public events and by collaborating with influential figures who believe in himaya’s cause. The Communications team also creates awareness videos and tools to better illustrate himaya’s cause and uses these tools to get to people in places that are harder to reach.
The department also organizes fundraising events and campaigns in order to raise funds for the continuing operations of the organization. It also collaborates with supporters who are interested in starting crowd funding campaigns to benefit the abused children who attend psychosocial sessions with the organization's team of psychologists. It also organizes an annual gala dinner for himaya’s board members and establishes partnerships with restaurants and retail stores in order to raise additional funds.
The Communications Department is responsible for everything pertaining to media and social media. Interviews on radio and/or TV are scheduled and managed by the Communications team. The team is also very active and has created a strong presence on social media on multiple platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Youtube etc. The Department also works with universities and has created 3 himaya clubs in universities who represent the NGO on their respective campuses.
